How to Make Compost

Making compost doesn’t have to be complicated. This video from Kitchen Gardens International gives you all you need to know to get started. King County offers some composting items at a discounted rate to residents to encourage waste reduction.

  1. Brings back fond memories of our HUGE compost pile when we lived off the grid in Oregon. One of these days I’ll get one going in our Seattle yard; the vid is good reminder of how simple it can be. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Langdon, one of the reasons we bought our house was because of the ancient compost pile (and the garden space). The compost pile is more like a compost pit and may attract some critters but it has lots of worms and years worth of “black gold”. We bury all our produce scraps, cover with a tarp, occasionally water it and that’s about it — couldn’t be easier for what you get in return.
